BLK OPL launch with Somizi at The Munro!
Black Opal, one of the leading beauty brands that has the depth and breadth within its portfolio to meet the diverse shade needs of the ever-evolving multicultural mainstream has partnered with author, choreographer, television and radio personality Somizi Mhlongo.
The partnership was announced at a glamorous launch that was held at the Munro Boutique Hotel in Houghton, planned and executed by Brand Arc. The event was attended by Black Opal’s executives, celebrities and the media.
Established in 1984, Black Opal was created to celebrate the nuances of black skin, the beauty revelation that saw Black Opal become a beauty revolution-in colour.
“This is a revolution in beauty as we have partnered with Somizi, who speaks to a wide audience in South Africa and neighbouring countries,” said Buyi Xaba, Black Opal’s Head of Marketing & PR. Black Opal represents beauty in every colour. “No matter how unique your shade, your tone or your heritage, we see you and celebrate the fire in you.”
The partnership which has been signed for an initial one-year period sees Somizi become Black Opal’s brand ambassador in South Africa. Somizi will endorse the company’s make up products for the duration of the contract. Apart from being a part of the brand’s media marketing campaign, Somizi and Black Opal will embark on a rigorous campaign which will allow him to visit various stores and interact with customers around the country.
“It is thrilling to be a part of this global brand,” said Somizi. “It’s unbelievable for many that a man can be chosen as a representative of a beauty brand.”
“I am both honoured and grateful to the Black Opal team in South Africa for the recognition and opportunity. I am looking forward to a great partnership over the next 12 months and beyond.”
Among many products which include make up, lipstick and skincare, Somizi highlights the Stick Foundations (Amber) as his favourite as it accentuates one’s beauty and is easy to apply as it comes in different shades.
